Preparation and consumption are often regarded separately and dettached from each other. The performance brings to light the mistakes and uncertainties of cooking as an exciting experience, going against the saying, "too many cooks spoil the broth" and allowing it to be a communal activity.

Rojak is taken to be a mixture of expertise and experiences between the participants that are involved, and how the exchange of tips, speculation and laughter can result in a tasty dish.
